- Yance Neergaard, first husband of Mary Jane Miller, father of Richard Neergaard. Was held at the infamous Southern Prision at Andersonville Georgia.
Yance was in the Civil War as a Union soldier. he was captured by the south and imprisioned at the Andersville Prision in Georgia. Some way he got a message that he was ungently needed at his home because of some family tragidy. He was able to talk the Commandant into letting him have a pass to return home and take care of this family matter, he gave his word that he would return after this matterwas disposed of. While he was home the War stopped and all of his friends told him not to return but he refused to break his word and so returned to Prision.
Befor all of the paperwork could be completed and the Prisioners could be released, he starved to death along with many more.
